Farming Online - Outlook Express (OE) Message Rules

Farming Online's FREE spam protection marks suspect e-mail with: Spam:***, (the number of *'s relates to the e-mails spam score. Greater number of *'s = greater likelihood of spam).

We advise members to monitor incoming messages over a period of time to establish whether they are being correctly identified as spam. Outlook Express Message Rules (steps below) can be easily configured to delete messages marked with specific words or Spam:***,.

To set up Message Rules to delete Spam:***, follow the on screen instructions below:

Step1:
Open Outlook Express. Click on "Tools" then "Message Rules" then "Mail"

Step 2.
Select the Mail Rules tab and click New (see below).

Step 3.
Under 1.Select the conditions for the rule - Tick Where the subject line contains specific words Then under 2.Select the actions for your rule to delete without downloading Delete from server (see below). Farming Online recommend that members only do this after monitoring messages over a period of time to ensure important messages are not lost.

Members can also opt to Move it to a specified folder which puts all messages marked with Spam: ****, in a folder of choice for review before deletion.

Under 3.Rule description click on the link for contains specific words

Step 4.
Add the words you would like the Message Rule to apply to (eg Spam:).

TIPS:
1) the spam protection system scores messages using *'s. High numbers of *'s indicate a greater liklihood that the message contains spam relative to messages with low numbers of *'s. To apply the Message Rule to ALL messages containing Spam: ***, add: Spam:. To apply the Message Rule only those messages with 5*'s and above add: Spam: ***** 2) You add modify existing Message Rules to include other words in the subject field that are commonly used by spammers (eg V1agra, Xanax etc).

Once you have added the correct words, Click OK until you see the normal Email screen.
